How to Prepare Your Home for Cleaners – A Stress Free Guide
Woohoo! Your cleaning service with Well Kept is booked and you’re getting excited for the first visit! But you might be feeling unsure of how to prepare for our arrival. No stress – We’ve got just the blog for you.
Although our team has been hired to clean your space, a little preparation beforehand can help ensure a smoother and more efficient cleaning experience. All clients receive reminder emails on Sunday morning and 1 day before your scheduled cleaning to help remind you that we are coming!
Below are a handful of tips that can help you prepare for the arrival of our team:
1. Declutter Your Space
Before our team arrives, take a few moments to tidy up any clutter. Clearing countertops, tabletops, and floors of excess items allows us to focus on the actual cleaning tasks rather than navigating around clutter. We never expect a house to be in tip top shape when we arrive—we understand that the reality o of life and the upkeep of a home can be a lot—but spending 10-15 minutes putting toys, dishes or laundry away can drastically help us start our clean.
2. Communicate Your Priorities:
Every home is unique, and so are your cleaning needs. Take the time to communicate your specific preferences and priorities to our team. Whether it’s focusing on certain high traffic areas of your home or if there’s a certain way you want your bed made, just let our team know so we can give you the best possible experience and cleaning.
3. Provide Access and Parking:
Depending on the area you live in, sometimes parking can be tricky! Street parking, shared parking, paid parking, it all varies, but it can all be stressful if we don’t know where to park for your cleaning. If there are specific instructions on how or where to park, or how to get into your home, please send us an email at hello@wellkeptdwellingco.com so we can let our team know. If you live out in the middle of nowhere or have a driveway, you don’t need to give any specific instructions :)
4. Make Special Requests in Advance:
If you have any special requests or add-on services, like cleaning your coffee pot or washing your baseboards, please communicate these requests in advance so we can plan accordingly. This allows for our team to plan and also allocate enough time for each task and cleaning.
5. Prepare Pets:
While all of our team members have dogs (we love pets over here!), it's still good to put them away during your scheduled cleaning. This makes the cleaning process easier and quicker! We really do love your furry friends, but keeping them out of the way during our visit ensures everyone’s safety and comfortability.
6. Specific Supplies:
More often than not, we use our Branch Basics Concentrate for everything. It really is that versatile! But every now and then there are specific requests to use different cleaners on certain areas in your home. If you are worried about your granite countertops or certain bathroom tiles, please just inform our team. If you also have a certain cleaner you would prefer us use instead of Branch Basics on a certain surface, just let us know. We are flexible and want to ensure you have a clean and safe space.
7. At Home During the Cleaning?
We have quite a few stay at home moms and dads, but also clients who work from home. Don’t worry about being in the way! Our team will work around you and your schedule. If you work from home but have calls throughout the day, we try to speak with you first during your visit to find a good time to step in and clean your office. Or if your kids are due for a nap, just let us know so we can clean their room first. We try to be as flexible as we can so we can clean efficiently and you can enjoy your home.
These are just a few simple steps to help you prepare for your Well Kept visit. This can ensure a stress free and satisfying cleaning experience for both you and our team!
