Thoughtfully Mended: Introducing Tailoring & Mending Services from Well Kept Dwelling Co.
We’re thrilled to announce a new offering at Well Kept Dwelling Co.—select tailoring and mending services, now available to both our home cleaning and organization clients and community members alike.
This new service is made possible by the incredible skills of Sydni, one of our team members, who has years of experience breathing new life into well-loved garments and household items.
Whether you have a favorite pair of jeans that needs patching or a button that’s popped off your go-to coat, we’re here to help you restore and rewear the pieces you already love—making your wardrobe more sustainable, functional, and uniquely yours.
What Can Be Mended or Altered?
Every item is assessed individually to ensure it's a good fit for our capabilities. Mending is a broad skill, and while our primary focus is on clothing, Sydni is also able to work with household items like sheets, pillows, bags, and curtains.
Not sure if something qualifies? Just ask!
We can help with:
Zipper replacement
Button replacement or refastening
Pants hemming (including original hem when possible)
Pants resizing and tapering
Denim patching and thigh reinforcement
Seam and rip repair in most garments
Hole repairs
Embellishment fixes (like beading or embroidery)

Another easy way to elevate your clothes? Steaming or ironing.
We’re happy to provide this service at your request during your next home visit!
A Quick Note on Seams
Sydni does not currently use a serger (which creates an overlock stitch like most store-bought garments). Instead, she uses a variety of finishing methods that are just as secure and effective in preventing fraying.
Using a twin needle, Sydni can create clean finishes on knits and stretch fabrics (like leggings and t-shirts) that closely mimic a store-bought look.
Denim Alteration: Sydni’s Specialty
Sydni has spent years perfecting her own method for downsizing jeans in a way that feels secure, fits well, and looks completely natural—unlike many DIY methods that fall short on structure and durability.
Her technique honors the natural construction of denim so your altered jeans hold up to years of wear.
She can also upsize jeans by incorporating elastic or denim panels, though she notes that downsizing is usually a cleaner process. Either way, your jeans will feel uniquely tailored to you.
Meet Sydni
Sydni’s love of sewing started young, in her grandmother’s sewing room. Her first 4-H project at age 8? A pair of shorts she hated—but it sparked a lifelong interest in clothing design and repair.
Over the years, Sydni became passionate about DIY alternatives to fast fashion, and developed her own systems for mending and tailoring with both function and form in mind. She believes that clothing should fit your body well, last for years, and look polished, even if it’s been thrifted or altered.
Her goal with every piece is twofold:
For the alteration to blend seamlessly, as if store-bought
For the fix to withstand years of use and wear
You won’t find quick fixes or 60-second TikTok tutorials here—just thoughtful, well-made work that respects your clothes and your lifestyle.
Have a piece you’d love to save or alter? Curious about what’s possible or what it might cost?
We’d love to help.
